Jacopo Tamburini, from Bologna, Italy, is this year’s recipient of the Italian American Baseball Foundation and Sons of Italy Foundation Scholarship.
Each year, the two organizations partner on a scholarship-matching initiative for a student-athlete that upholds the core values of both non-profits. He will be recognized at the annual National Education & Leadership Awards in Washington, D.C. presented by the Sons of Italy Foundation on May 23.
Tamburini, who majors in engineering and studies physics, plays at Beloit College in Wisconsin. He is a frequent Dean’s List honoree, has earned a Presidential Scholarship, and works as an Admissions Ambassador on campus. His 4.0 GPA is no surprise.
When he is in Italy, he plays for Modena in Seria A of the Italian Baseball League and was a 2022 Future Star selection. The freshman infielder hit .280 this season.
His mother played professional softball and he credits past IABF Future Star honoree and University of Florida phenom Jac Caglianone as someone he admires.
The Italian American Baseball Foundation awards college scholarships to deserving student-athletes who express pride in our culture and heritage. All awardees must follow the application process. The goal is to honor graduating high school seniors or current college baseball and softball. An IABF scholarship committee selects the winners each year. The scholarships are open to Americans and international students from Italy.
IABF will announce its full slate of 2024 scholarship recipients in the coming weeks.
