Mike Piazza and Lou Tallarini to Receive Joe DiMaggio Award

Columbus Citizens Foundation and Italian American Baseball Foundation partner to present award and honor Italian American legend

This year’s recipients of the Joe DiMaggio Award are Baseball Hall of Famer and New York Mets legend Mike Piazza and real estate executive and former CCF President Lou Tallarini.

They will be honored at a ceremony at the CCF Townhouse on Tuesday, April 4, at 6 p.m.

A select group of individuals will be able to purchase VIP tickets for a meet-and-greet with Piazza at 5:30 p.m. that evening. Ticket and journal ad sponsorship information are available here.

The Joe DiMaggio Award was established in 1999 in memory of baseball legend, and Hall of Famer, the “Yankee Clipper,” Joe DiMaggio, due to his support of the educational needs of students with learning disabilities. Since then, the DiMaggio Award has been presented to influential individuals who believe in funding education and opportunity for students.

Proceeds from this event benefit CCF’s Joe DiMaggio Fund and IABF’s international youth programs. Youth development includes baseball and softball scholarships for Italian Americans and Italian natives looking to grow with the games they love. Funds will also be driven towards the annual baseball and softball youth showcase and development efforts that IABF has begun to build with the help and support of the Federation of Italian Baseball and Softball.

CCF and IABF thank the Mary and Francesco Giambelli Foundation & World Baseball Network for underwriting this event.
