IABF College Scholarships

The Italian American Baseball Foundation awards college scholarships to deserving student-athletes who express pride in our culture and heritage. 

  • All awardees must follow the application process.
  • Our goal is to honor graduating high school seniors or current college players.
  • An IABF scholarship committee will select the winners each year.
  • The scholarships are open to Americans and international students from Italy.

Note: Scholarship amounts vary per year. Scholarship recipients can not apply again in future years.”

Deadline

  • April 15, 2023 at Midnight EST

Eligibility

  • Must be an IABF member ( or parent )
  • Italian American heritage of at least 25%
  • GPA of at least 3.0
  • Current roster of a college Baseball/Softball team
  • Financial need

Application Requirements

  • Application form
  • Most recent transcript
  • 2 letters of recommendation from non-parent (teacher, coach, employer)
  • Most recent FAFSA form to determine financial need
  • Essay describing themselves and the reasons why they are applying for the scholarship. The applicant can also discuss their Italian American heritage and their favorite Italian American baseball/softball player
  • Make themselves available for an interview with Scholarship committee members

    2021 IABF Scholarship Winners

    The IABF awarded its first college scholarships in 2021. Three deserving student-athletes were recognized for their success on the field and in the classroom. All three are playing collegiately too.

    Scholarship winners include Francesco Bonvini, Franco Logozzo, and Shannon Russo. Bonvni, who is from Parma in Northern Italy, is playing baseball at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn. Logozzo is playing baseball at St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue, New York. Russo is playing softball at Raritan Valley Community College in New Jersey.
