John Viola Joins IABF Advisory Board

Italian American Baseball Foundation appoints John Viola to its Advisory Board. Viola brings philanthropic and humanitarian leadership tied to Italian heritage, along with experience at NIAF, the Italian American Podcast, sports organizations, cultural institutions, and charitable foundations.

IABF Hosts Cigar Dinner with Mike Piazza

Thanks to everyone who came out for our annual IABF Cigar dinner! Special thanks to Mike Piazza for joining us as well. This year’s event at Bourbon Street in Bayside, NY was another testament to the growing following IABF continues to generate and the shared passion for our Italian heritage and love of baseball.

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito Meets with IABF Leadership

Italian American Baseball Foundation leaders met with Supreme Court Justice and fellow Italian American Samuel Alito during their time in Washington, D.C. to celebrate Italian Heritage Day with the Nationals. Justice Alito is a noted baseball fan and roots for the Phillies.

IABF Hosts Meaningful and Productive Italian Heritage Day in Washington DC

The Italian American Baseball Foundation participated in Washington Nationals Italian Heritage Day, with board members taking part in on-field activities and meeting members of Congress. A portion of ticket sales supported the IABF Scholarship Fund and highlighted baseball’s growth in Italy and Italian American heritage.

Mets to Host Italian Heritage Day with IABF on September 17

The Mets worked with the Italian American Baseball Foundation to bring back Italian Heritage Day at Citi Field on September 17. The Italian community will receive special recognition, and a portion of each ticket sold will support the Foundation’s Scholarship Fund.

IABF, FIBS Helping Emilia Romagna Flood Effort

The Italian American Baseball Foundation partnered with the Federation of Italian Baseball and Softball to raise funds for flood relief in Emilia Romagna, Italy. Donations will help repair severely damaged baseball facilities and restore places where local residents, especially children, can play.

Attention Italian American Mets Fans

For two seasons, the Italian American Baseball Foundation sought an Italian Heritage game with the New York Mets but received little communication and only an offer to purchase group tickets. While other clubs support such events, the Yankees host five Italian Heritage nights, prompting the IABF to demand better representation in Queens.

Yankees Celebrating Italian Heritage During Five Games in 2023

The New York Yankees will host five Italian Heritage games from September 5 through 10. Ticket proceeds will partly benefit the Italian American Baseball Foundation, and special event tickets include a Yankees hat featuring the Italian flag, a hot dog, and a drink. IABF also offers suite tickets for September 8.

IABF Sponsors Italian Baseball Game for Florida High School Team

IABF board secretary Mark Cardillo organized a Community School of Naples baseball trip featuring games against Italian clubs in Nettuno, Parma and Milan. The IABF sponsored the CSN-Crocetta game in Parma, which Cardillo said exemplified the foundation’s mission.
