The Italian American Baseball Foundation has named Chicago White Sox player Sam Antonacci its 2026 Future Star Award honoree, recognizing a breakthrough season that included an international highlight for Team Italy and his arrival in Major League Baseball.

Antonacci will be honored at IABF’s 10th Anniversary Gala on December 10, joining the organization for a celebration of Italian American baseball and its next generation of talent.

For the Springfield, Illinois, native, 2026 has been a season to remember. Antonacci hit a two-run home run to help Team Italy defeat Team USA in the World Baseball Classic, creating a signature moment on the international stage.

He made his MLB debut in April and became a spark plug for the White Sox during their run to the American League Championship Series. His journey from Springfield to Chicago’s South Side, with a memorable stop representing his Italian heritage, has made him a fitting recipient of this year’s honor.
