Baseball Executive Larry Lucchino Dies at 78

Larry Lucchino, the Italian-American baseball executive who led the Orioles, Padres, and Red Sox, has died at 78. As Red Sox president and CEO from 2002 to 2015, he helped Boston win three World Series titles and drove the development of Camden Yards and Petco Park.

IABF, Elefterakis, Elefterakis & Panek Law Announce International Youth Development and Baseball Partnership

The Italian American Baseball Foundation (IABF) and Elefterakis, Elefterakis, and Panek (EEP) have agreed to a partnership to support their collective efforts in youth baseball development. IABF has become one of the world’s premier heritage-based non-profit baseball organizations and is dedicated to inspiring the next generation.

IABF Selected for NYS Baseball Hall of Fame

The Italian American Baseball Foundation will be inducted into the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame in November 2024. The honor recognizes its board’s work building a scholarship fund, running clinics in Italy, organizing Italian heritage games, partnering with Italy’s federation, and hosting a major gala.

Italian American, Red Sox Broadcaster Joe Castiglione Named Ford C. Frick Award Honoree

HOF: Congratulations to Italian American broadcaster Joe Castiglione on being named the 2024 Ford C. Fick Award honoree by the National Baseball Hall of Fame. This legendary Boston radio man has been in the booth for 41 seasons and is still going strong. Congratulations on a legendary career, and welcome to Cooperstown!

John Viola Joins IABF Advisory Board

Italian American Baseball Foundation appoints John Viola to its Advisory Board. Viola brings philanthropic and humanitarian leadership tied to Italian heritage, along with experience at NIAF, the Italian American Podcast, sports organizations, cultural institutions, and charitable foundations.

Full Mission Classic WBC Documentary Released

The Mission Classic documentary is available in a full-length one-hour release. The full running debuted during a sports film festival in Milan, and the film is available for worldwide distribution via YouTube. This project was produced by the Federation of Italian Baseball and Softball and the Italian American Baseball Foundation.

IABF Featured During ABC Broadcast of 2023 NYC Columbus Day Parade

The Italian American Baseball Foundation was featured during ABC’s broadcast of New York City’s Columbus Day Parade. The segment presented the organization’s story during the nationally prominent celebration and directed viewers to the broadcast feature.

University of Florida’s Jac Caglianone Named 2023 IABF Future Star Honoree

University of Florida baseball star Jac Caglianone has been named the 2023 Italian American Baseball Foundation Future Star honoree and will be recognized at the foundation’s November 30 gala in the Bronx. The standout two-way player set program records with 33 home runs, 90 RBI, and 208 total bases.
