2025 IABF Gala Brings Another Sold-Out Celebration of Italian American Pride and Baseball Tradition

The 2025 IABF Gala drew more than 425 guests to Marina del Rey to celebrate Italian American heritage, baseball, and the organization’s mission. Honorees included Francisco Cervelli, Phil Cuzzi, Roman Anthony, John Ricco, Alanna Rizzo, Ned Colletti, Billy Martin, Joe Urso, and Sam Militello.

Cervelli-IABF Academy Team Plays in U.S. at Pony League World Series

The Francisco Cervelli IABF Academy Team represented Italy in the Pony World Series tournament in the United States. The appearance marked a major step for the academy, bringing Italy and America together through the dedication of its players, coaches, and families, while beginning a broader international journey.

Dom Scala Hosts Three Weeks of IABF Sponsored Youth Baseball Camps

We’ve said it before, and will say it again… Dom Scala does a tremendous job on youth Baseball development. He’s passionate, proud, and has a resume to go along with his kind, compassionate, and innovative baseball instruction. We are proud that he’s on our IABF Board, and we are equally as excited to sponsor his baseball camps.

Remembering Rocky Colavito

Rocky Colavito, one of the finest Italian American baseball players of the 20th century and a Cleveland Hall of Fame inductee, died at 91 at his Pennsylvania home. He hit 374 home runs, appeared in nine All-Star Games, and hit four homers in one game.

IABF Inducted into New York State Baseball Hall of Fame

It was a distinct honor for the organization to be inducted into the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame, recognizing the board’s work to grow baseball in Italy and honor Italian Americans. The induction, shared with notable baseball figures, inspires continued cross-cultural work.

Cardinals Host Italian Heritage Night

The Italian American Baseball Foundation continued its MLB Italian Heritage Games in St. Louis, where Chris Vaccaro met Cardinals players Andre Pallante and Daniel Descalso, both Team Italy alumni. The games promote Italian culture and have helped generate college scholarships through partnerships with MLB clubs.

Sal Frelick Named 2024 IABF Future Star Honoree

Sal Frelick is the latest Italian American Baseball Foundation Future Star honoree and will be recognized at the annual IABF Gala on December 5 at Marina Del Rey in the Bronx. The Milwaukee Brewers outfielder played for Team Italy in the 2023 World Baseball Classic and was a first-round pick in 2021 after starring at Boston College.
