It’s been one heck of a first season for IABF Ambassador Frank Catalanotto at Hofstra University. In year one, he managed the Pride to a Colonial Athletic Association championship, its first in school history and they’ve been playing baseball in Hempstead, NY since 1938.
The third-seed in the tournament, Hofstra earned a 7-6 win over fifth-seeded Northeastern. The win was the Pride’s second walk-off win of the tournament and ninth this season.
Hofstra improved its record to 30-21 with its ninth-consecutive victory. Sunday’s win earned the Pride the CAA’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, and will find out their seeding and opponent at the NCAA Selection Show on Monday (May 30) at noon. The selection show will air on ESPN2. Hofstra is the first school since Delaware in 2017 to go undefeated in the conference tournament as the Pride was a perfect 4-0.
