The Italian American Baseball Foundation recently awarded its 2023 baseball and softball scholarships and again increased the number of recipients this year.

One of IABF’s premier tasks is to award scholarships to deserving student-athletes who express pride in Italian culture and heritage. The scholarships are open to Americans and international students from Italy committed to playing baseball or softball in college and maintaining high academic standing. 

All awardees must follow the application process. An IABF scholarship committee selects the winners each year. 

2023 IABF Scholarship Recipients are:

• Vincenzo Bruno – Staranzano, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy – Monroe College 
• Samuele Bruno – Nettuno, Italy – College of the Desert
• Izabella Cimino – Farmingdale, NY – Florida Atlantic University
• Joey DiMotta – Commack, NY – Farleigh Dickinson University 
• Vincent Gangone – Brooklyn, NY – John Jay College
• Sofia LaSpina – Bellmore, NY – Pennsylvania College of Technology
• Ryan Micheli, Sachem HS – Stony Brook University
• Francis Olivieri – Bayville, NY – Gettysburg College
• Chiara Ruberto – Anzio, Italy – Xaverian High School
• Federico Tiburtini – Parma, Italy – Ventura College
• Anthony Tufano – East Williston, NY – Catholic University

All scholarship recipients will be recognized at the annual IABF Gala on November 30 in New York City.
